Heritage Candle Sticks

In 2019, the floor in Heritage Hall beneath the church sanctuary needed to be replaced. The supporting pillars also had to be replaced to accommodate the new cement floor. Kevin Weir, the chair of the Board of Managers, crafted a pair of matching candle sticks from sections of the original pillars. The wood turned out to be old growth red pine. There were over 100 growth rings in the 6-inch diameter pillars. It was all clear, with no knots, but about eight tacks and nails that had been painted over caused him to have to sharpen the roughing gouge several times. The candle sticks will hold 3-inch candles.
