|
Sunday Services Our services begin at 10:00 a.m. and run for about an hour. They start
and end with piano music provided by our music director, Amy Groleau. You
will hear everything from classical to gospel to swing. Then Rev. Dean Adlam
takes over to lead us through liturgy, prayer, Bible-based messages and
music. His interactive stories for children of all ages are a highlight of
our service. Special music is provided by Amy and an assortment of church
members and guests. |

|
Sunday School The children start the morning with the congregation in the sanctuary,
so they have the chance to share in some music and the Lord’s Prayer. After
the children’s story, they go to the Sunday School room where all ages are mixed together for lessons and activities. |
|
Coffee Hour and Food Bank Sunday The first Sunday of every month is Food Bank Sunday. People are
encouraged to make donations as they are able. A coffee hour follows
the service on the second Sunday of every month. From January to June,
donations made to our Bread Box at coffee hour go to support the
Alzheimer’s Society. Donations made in the second half of the year support
our sponsored child in the West Bank. |

|
Holy Communion It is the tradition of the Presbyterian Church in Canada to celebrate
The Lord’s Supper four times in a year. At Mount Pleasant, Communion is held
on Palm Sunday, and the first Sunday of June, October and December. |
|
Good Friday The day of Christ’s crucifixion is one of the most sacred days of the year,
so a service is held to recognize His sacrifice at 10:00 a.m. on Good Friday
morning. |
|
|
|
Thanksgiving The time of the autumn harvest is always celebrated with decorations
grown, preserved and donated by congregational members to show the bounty of
the harvest God provides. |
|
Anniversary Sunday and the Tartans On the third Sunday of October, we hold an
Anniversary Service celebrating the Scottish heritage of the Presbyterian
Church. We dedicate it to the pioneers and those who came after to ensure
that a Presbyterian church survived in our village. |
|
|
|
Remembrance Sunday In November, Remembrance Day is
recognized with both poppies and wreaths and with the reading of the names of
people who served from both the Knox and Mount Pleasant congregations. The
official Canadian Remembrance Day flag, LEST WE FORGET flies beneath the
Canadian flag in our Memorial Garden. Small Canadian flags with a poppy
attached are placed on the graves of those named on the Honour Roll and
buried in our village Pioneer Cemetery. A wreath is placed in the cemetery. |
|
Christmas Eve A special service is held at 4:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve to anticipate
and celebrate the birth of the Saviour into our world. |
